KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy call by a delegation from the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), led by its Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, at his official residence on Monday.
The meeting served as a formal engagement between the federal government and the Sarawak government, with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) among the key matters discussed, in line with ongoing efforts to safeguard Sarawak’s rights and position within the federation.
The discussions, which lasted over an hour, also touched on the need for closer policy coordination between the federal and state governments to ensure development agendas are implemented in a structured manner and according to set timelines.
The session further provided an opportunity for the exchange of views on roles, responsibilities and experiences, drawing on Wan Junaidi’s previous service at the federal level, which contributed to strengthening bilateral relations.
