KUCHING: The Sarawak Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, paid their last respects to the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang today(Monday).

The couple arrived at Masjid Jamek Kuching at approximately 12:15 p.m. where they joined in the Zuhur prayers, followed by the solat jenazah (funeral prayers) for the late Juma’ani, who passed away at the Normah Medical Centre early Monday morning.

Among those present at the Demak Mosque were Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Deputy Minister for Telecommunication and Utility Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, and Speaker Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Sarawak, Tan Sri Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar.

Wan Junaidi described the loss as profound, not only for the Premier’s family but also for the state of Sarawak.

“The late Puan Sri was the strength and pillar behind the Premier throughout his political career spanning nearly five decades.

“She faced the many challenges and trials alongside him, and was a source of inspiration and fortitude,” he said.

Quoting the well-known saying, “Behind every great man is a great woman,” Wan Junaidi aptly described the phrase as reflecting her unwavering role and quiet influence as the Premier’s life partner.

The Head of State also highlighted the late Puan Sri’s enduring legacy through her charitable works and social contributions, particularly as the president of SABATI, a well-known welfare organisation in Sarawak.

“She was not only a devoted wife and mother, but also a woman of substance; resilient, supportive and deeply understanding of the responsibilities shouldered by the Premier as the leader of the State,” he added.
