KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has clarified that the attendance of Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing at a campaign event in Johor was in his personal capacity and was not related to the coalition.

In a statement yesterday (June 16), Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said GPS became aware of Tiong’s presence at the event after being informed of a report published by a local news portal.

“Tiong’s attendance at the campaign event was entirely personal and did not represent GPS,” he said.

Abdul Karim stressed that GPS has remained consistent in its position of not being involved in election affairs in other states.

He added that any speculation linking GPS to the campaign activities in Johor was unfounded and did not reflect the coalition’s stance.

The clarification was issued following reports of Tiong’s attendance at a campaign event in the state.
