Through the restoration of a community surau, nationwide bubur lambuk distributions, and partner iftars, Grab Malaysia reinforces its commitment to the people who power its ecosystem.

PETALING JAYA, 13 March 2026 – This Ramadan, Grab Malaysia is strengthening its connection with the communities it serves through a series of initiatives rooted in the values of sabar (patience) and syukur (gratitude). Under the #GrabBersamaMalaysia initiative, Grab employees, driver- and delivery-partners, merchant-partners and community members came together to restore community spaces, share meals, and support families across the country.

Restoring the Heart of a Village: Surau Nur Ramadhan

Grab Malaysia, together with GXBank and Jaya Grocer, joined forces with Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS) to breathe new life into Surau Nur Ramadhan, a remote but important community space serving residents of Kampung Paya Seberang in Hulu Langat.

Over time, the surau had fallen into disrepair. In the spirit of gotong-royong, Grab, GXBank and Jaya Grocer employees worked alongside driver and delivery-partners and local villagers to repaint, repair, and refresh the space so it can continue serving the community during Ramadan and beyond.

“We weren’t just fixing walls or applying a fresh coat of paint,” said Rashid Shukor, Director of Country Operations and Mobility, Grab Malaysia. “This surau is a place where the community gathers during Ramadan and throughout the year. Seeing our driver-, delivery-partners, employees, and villagers come together to restore it while fasting reflects what #GrabBersamaMalaysia is about a community looking after one another.”

Sharing a Meal: A Nationwide Table

The surau restoration is part of a wider effort taking place in 16 locations nationwide.

This Ramadan, together with driver- and delivery-partners, Grab prepared and distributed nearly 10,000 packets of bubur lambuk, bringing the tradition of sharing a warm meal during iftar to communities from Kota Bharu to Sandakan.

Honouring the Families Behind the Wheel

Recognising that a partner’s strength comes from their home, Grab also hosted a special iftar gathering for  driver- and delivery-partners and their families in the Klang Valley.

As part of this initiative and also in collaboration with LZS, the children received duit raya, while families were provided with daily essentials from Jaya Grocer. This was held to recognise the sacrifices made by the families who support Malaysia’s digital economy every day.

“Sabar’s on the Way”: A reminder of patience

The spirit of patience and kindness during Ramadan also comes to life in Grab Malaysia’s latest brand film, “Sabar’s on the Way.” Inspired by a real-life viral interaction between a delivery-partner named Sabar and a customer, the comedic musical reimagines the classic Tunggu Sekejap made famous by P. Ramlee. The story follows Sabar navigating unexpected challenges on the way to completing a delivery, a lighthearted reminder that a little patience (kesabaran) and kindness can go a long way.

Beyond the entertainment, the film reflects the heart behind every order, celebrating the dedication of Grab’s driver- and delivery-partners while reinforcing Grab as the everyday app Malaysians can count on for meals, groceries, and daily essentials. The brand film is now available on Grab Malaysia’s official YouTube channel.

Reflecting on the month’s initiatives, Rashid added, “Our mission has always been to grow together with Malaysia. Whether it is restoring a community space or supporting our partners and their families, these efforts reflect our belief that progress should benefit the communities we serve.”

Through initiatives like #GrabBersamaMalaysia, Grab Malaysia continues to work with its partners and communities to strengthen connections and share the spirit of Ramadan across the country.
