PAKATAN Harapan’s promise to abolish loans from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has made graduates in the state disappointed. Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (GPS-Tupong) (pic) said that many youth feel cheated when Putrajaya did not abolish the loans as promised before GE14.
“We know that all debts must be paid, but in the current economy, it poses a challenge to graduates to look for employment,” he said yesterday.
He added that some graduates are not financially capable of settling their PTPTN loans for various reasons. “Thus, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has allocated RM30 million to help our graduates with their loans,” he said. Fazzrudin also welcomed the state government’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship to mitigate difficulties in getting employment.
“I am confident that Sarawak youth have the willpower and expertise. What is important is the state government needs to guide and advise them.”
