SARATOK: Grassroots leadership must work together to develop their villages and longhouses to ensure a strong and united community.

This was shared by Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, who stressed that cooperation is crucial in village management.

“Every village has its community leader, tribal chief, Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT) head, party leader, and chairman of mosques or prayer halls.

“Even NGOs such as clubs have their leaders.

“If all these leaders work together in harmony, their combined efforts will drive progress, and with teamwork, managing and developing the village will be much more effective.

“Most importantly, respect and trust the appointed leader,” he said when asked about the selection process for the new village chief of Kampung Hulu Kaba on Thursday (Feb 20).

According to Mohamad, leadership transitions at all levels, including in villages, are a natural part of governance.

“When the time comes, veteran leaders will step aside to give opportunities to the younger leaders.

“Once a new leader is appointed, provide full support and unwavering cooperation.

“I believe whoever takes the helm of Kampung Hulu Kaba has been carefully selected through today’s election process.

“You have cast your votes, and now, the elected leader must uphold their responsibility and ensure good relations with all villagers,” he urged.

Penghulu Missis Aris, the community leader for the area, oversaw the selection process for the new village head of Kampung Hulu Kaba.

The election meeting, conducted by village head of Kampung Hilir Kaba, Ahmad Diwi Deli, following the end of Dreman Nis’ tenure as the previous village head of Kampung Hulu Kaba.

Missis, who monitored the selection process, expressed gratitude to Ahmad Diwi for his dedication to ensuring a smooth transition and selecting a suitable replacement for the outgoing village head.

“Whoever is appointed must carry out their responsibilities with the utmost integrity.

“The role is significant to ensure Kampung Hulu Kaba continues to progress while fostering unity among its people,” he said.

He also extended his deepest appreciation to Dreman Nis for his dedication and contributions toward the development of Kampung Hulu Kaba during his tenure.
