KUCHING: Newly-appointed Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Supreme Council member (Pesaka wing), Datuk Willie Mongin, has pledged to work tirelessly in championing Sarawak’s rights, both in parliament and beyond.
He expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity and mandate to serve as a Supreme Council member of the party for the 2025–2028 term.
“I will continue working hard to fight for the rights of the people of Sarawak in parliament and wherever there is an opportunity to find ways to bring back Sarawak’s rights to its people.
“As a newcomer to this party, I am very excited, grateful, and thankful for the opportunity to hold this position, allowing me to play a role in continuing the party’s struggle in accordance with the party’s constitution and the will of the people.
“I see this party as a highly disciplined one, with a clear vision and direction. Not only that, it is also a hardworking party,” he said, adding, “I feel that I have found the right platform to help the people and fight for Sarawak’s rights.”
He said this to reporters at the PBB 16th Triennial General Meeting (TGM) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday (Feb 16).
Reflecting on his political journey over the past few years, Willie acknowledged the challenges he has faced but viewed them as stepping stones for growth.
“I have gone through a lot, but as people say, sometimes you take one step back to move forward even further. I strategise and reflect on my actions to correct my mistakes and improve,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation for the guidance and support he has received within the party, stating that constructive criticism is essential for personal and political growth.
“I appreciate all the leaders in the party, the delegates, and everyone who has supported me and given me constructive advice. Even though sometimes the advice may be harsh, if it helps us grow and improve, I believe we must accept and embrace it,” said Willie.
