KUCHING: A celebration of Sarawakian pride and artistry took centre stage as Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib joined the recording of the much-anticipated music video ‘Negeriku’.
The song, performed by Sarawak-born artiste Dewi Seriestha, features lyrics written by her father, Yudhi Seriestha.

In a Facebook post, Hanifah expressed her pride in the creative effort, describing it as a meaningful initiative that not only celebrates Sarawak’s culture and artistic talent but also inspires the younger generation to appreciate their identity and heritage.
Meanwhile, Dewi shared in her own Facebook post that the song, composed by Yudhi between 2000 and 2011 when she was 11 years old, has been given a new life.
“This song was specially written for me when I competed in the national-level Bintang Kecil 2001, where I won third place in Malaysia.
“Today, more than two decades later, after nearly six months of preparation, the song is finally being released as a symbol of my love and devotion to my homeland, Sarawak,” she said.
Through ‘Negeriku’, Dewi and Yudhi aim to deliver a message of hope, uplifting local music, nurturing pride and love for Sarawak, and continuing to contribute to their beloved homeland.
‘Negeriku’ is now available for streaming on Spotify, while the official music video is set to premiere this November.
