SAMARAHAN: Hasbullah Mood has successfully defended the WBC Muaythai Malaysia National Bantamweight title with a second-round knockout at the Rentap Fighting Championship 7.0.

In a statement issued by RFC, it stated that the emphatic victory headlined the championships held at The Summer Shopping Mall.

Representing Phoenix Meranek x Rentap Muaythai Gym, Hasbullah faced one of the toughest challenges of his career against Wassof Rumijam of Pendowo Limo, the reigning SEA Games Gold Medalist. Entering the bout as the underdog, Hasbullah defied expectations against a fighter widely regarded as one of the region’s elite.

“From the opening bell, Hasbullah showed confidence and control. In the second round, he landed a powerful knockout that ended the fight instantly and stunned the crowd.

“The victory was a major upset and marked a defining moment in Malaysian Muaythai,”the statement read.

With the win, Hasbullah secured his third consecutive defence of the WBC Muaythai Malaysia National Bantamweight Title, further establishing himself as one of the country’s leading fighters and a rising force on the regional stage.

The championship weekend held on Jan 16 to Jan 18 featured 40 Muaythai bouts on Saturday (Jan 17) and 14 submission grappling bouts on Sunday (Jan 18), with athletes competing from across Malaysia and international participants from Thailand, the United States, Sudan, France, Singapore, Egypt, and Indonesia, reinforcing Rentap Fighting Championship’s growing international profile.

Beyond the competition, the championship weekend also highlighted RFC’s commitment to community engagement.

The event also featured educational sessions focused on youth development, anti-bullying, and child safety, reinforcing the organisers’ belief that combat sports can positively impact society beyond the ring.
