SHAH ALAM: Four Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 events were postponed today after unhealthy haze conditions pushed the Air Pollutant Index (API) in Shah Alam and Klang to 169 as of noon.
The affected events are para athletics at UiTM Stadium, para swimming at the Selangor Aquatic Complex, para archery at the Selangor Youth and Sports Complex (KOMBES), and lawn bowls at Bayuemas Indoor Stadium Lawn Bowls in Klang
Deputy chairman of the SUKMA XXII and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 Organising Committee Mohd Najwan Halimi said the decision was made following advice from the Department of Environment (DOE), Ministry of Health (MOH) and a special technical committee monitoring the haze situation.
“API readings in Shah Alam and Klang as of noon today showed an unhealthy reading of 169, forcing the organisers to postpone the para athletics, para swimming, para archery and lawn bowls events,” he said in a statement today (Sept 6).
Mohd Najwan said updates on the postponed events and revised competition schedule would be announced from time to time, subject to API readings at the respective venues.
The Para SUKMA competition, which runs from Sept 5 to 10, continues with unaffected events including powerlifting, para badminton, boccia, table tennis and chess, while the resumption of the postponed competitions will depend on improvements in air quality.
