THE 2026 Sarawak Budget will continue supporting home financing, settlement planning and community redevelopment as part of broader social development priorities.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said a total of RM121 million has been allocated to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to implement 11 affordable housing projects involving 1,547 units across Kuching, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

He said an additional RM20 million will be channelled to Mutiara Mortgage and Credit Sdn Bhd to assist B40 and M40 home buyers.

“As of September 2025, RM83.5 million had been disbursed to 1,371 buyers,” he said when tabling the 2026 State Budget today (Nov 24).

To improve rural housing, Abang Johari said the state will continue the Longhouse Loan Scheme, offering interest-free loans in the form of building materials.

The scheme provides RM30,000 per door for repairs and RM50,000 per door for new construction.

Abang Johari said RM50 million would be provided annually to continue the scheme.

“From 2022 to September 2025, RM313 million has been disbursed benefiting 391 longhouses, encompassing a total of 8,033 doors across Sarawak,” he added.

For rental support, RM48 million has been allocated under the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme, which provides RM200 monthly for up to 36 months to eligible households earning RM4,556 and below.

The scheme now includes students in higher learning institutions and civil service tenants in government quarters.

The Premier said as of September this year, 6,457 applications involving RM31.4 million had been approved.

He said the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and Village Extension Scheme (SPK) would continue next year with an allocation of RM224 million to provide residential lots for low- and middle-income families.

Projects include SPK Gedong, SPK Beliong in Asajaya, SPK Sambir in Samarahan, SPK Semariang, SPK Noor Islam in Kuala Lawas, SPS Tukau Parabena in Miri, SPS Limbang and SPS Balingian in Mukah.

He said RM247 million had also been earmarked for Kampung Redevelopment Projects in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Limbang under the state’s urban renewal strategy.
