KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, today received a courtesy visit from the main committee of the Sarawak State-Level Gawai Dayak Celebration 2025 at the Astana Negeri, Petra Jaya.
The visit, which took place at 9:30 am in the Main Audience Room, was led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the Adviser and Chairman of the 2025 Gawai Dayak Celebration Committee.
He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Amar Datuk Doreen Mayang.
The purpose of the visit was to extend an official invitation to the Head of State and Toh Puan to attend the Gawai Dayak Open House on June 1 and the State-Level Gawai Dayak Gala Dinner scheduled for June 22.
Both events will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The Gawai Gala Dinner is expected to be graced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In expressing his gratitude, Wan Junaidi commended the committee for their efforts in organising the 2025 celebration, which he described as a significant platform for promoting unity among Sarawak’s multiracial communities, while preserving the cultural heritage of the Dayak people.
He expressed hope that the celebration will run smoothly and bring meaningful benefits to the people, especially in strengthening goodwill and togetherness, the cornerstone of harmony in Sarawak.
