KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, has extended heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all Christians in Sarawak in conjunction with Good Friday and Easter celebrations.
Wan Junaidi highlighted the profound significance of Easter for the Christian community – a time for solemn reflection on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and a joyous celebration of His resurrection, which carries enduring messages of love, forgiveness, renewal and hope.
“As a Muslim, I share in the joy and reverence of this sacred season with my Christian brothers and sisters.
“Although we may worship in different ways, we are bound by our common humanity and the values that give life its deeper meaning – faith, compassion, selflessness, and above all, hope,” he said in a special message today.
Wan Junaidi pointed out that spiritually significant moments, such as Easter, present not only an opportunity to strengthen one’s connection with God, but also to reach across religious and cultural divides to uplift and comfort one another.
“Easter is a reminder that even after the darkest of nights, there is light. Even in sorrow, there is the promise of joy.
“It is a powerful symbol of rebirth – a message we all need in these times, regardless of religion,” he said.
Wan Junaidi also expressed admiration and appreciation for the Christian community’s longstanding contributions to Sarawak’s moral, social and educational development.
He stressed the importance of preserving the state’s hallmark of harmony and mutual respect.
“In Sarawak, we do more than tolerate our differences; we embrace them, and in doing so, we find strength.
“Let us continue to walk together, side by side, with open hearts and shared purpose, as we build a future rooted in peace, unity and understanding.
“May this Easter bring comfort to your hearts, joy to your families, and renewed strength to your spirit.
“We wish all Christians a Blessed Good Friday, a joyful Easter, and a safe and peaceful holiday season,” he added.
