KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, have been invited to visit the Mulu National Park from Sept 18 to 20.
The letter of invitation was presented by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) and Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala during a courtesy call at the Astana Negeri Sarawak on Tuesday (Aug 11).
The invitation according to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) was extended on behalf of the state government and the Mulu community.
The proposed visit would provide Wan Junaidi an opportunity to observe the latest developments at Mulu National Park, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
He is also expected to get a closer look at efforts to conserve the area’s natural heritage, promote the sustainable development of its tourism sector and implement development projects that benefit the local community.
The visit is also expected to serve as a platform for the Governor to engage with the local community and meet government agencies and stakeholders involved in the development and conservation of Mulu National Park.
Also present during the courtesy call were Miri Division Resident Galong Luang, political secretary to the Premier Dominic Nyurang Ajang, Mulu Subdistrict administrative officer Rebetta Janggi, Marudi District Orang Ulu Penghulu Benedict Wak, as well as local community leaders and village chiefs.
