KUCHING: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Kuching Contingent today organised an inaugural shooting training session to ensure participants’ firearms skills and competency remain at an optimum level.

The training, held at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) Kuching, saw participation from Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

The couple’s arrival at 10 am was welcomed by the Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, Kuching District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Alexson Naga Chabu, and other senior PDRM officers.

The programme began with a safety briefing and firearms handling session conducted by the Armament Staff Officer from the Logistics and Technology Department of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK), DSP Zaidi Said, who also served as the training instructor.

During the session, Wan Junaidi and his wife participated in the ‘centre-fire’ and ‘falling plate’ shooting categories alongside the Sarawak Police Commissioner and senior team officers.

According to Alexson, a total of 20 officers, comprising both male and female senior officers, took part in the inaugural training to ensure that their firearms skills and competency remained at an optimum level.

Immediately after the training, Wan Junaidi and his wife attended a luncheon and signed the target sheets used during the shooting session.

This historic first-time training with Wan Junaidi concluded with a group photography session before the VIP guests departed from the event.
