Head of State, Premier bring festive cheer to Miri

MIRI:  Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg continued their Hari Raya Aidilfitri rounds with a visit to the city today.

Wan Junaidi who was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, began his visit by attending a Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration with community leaders, hosted by the Miri Malay Association at the Miri Indoor Stadium.

Abang Johari meanwhile called on several local dignitaries.

The first stop was the residence of Bekenu Malay Welfare Trust Board chairman, Datuk Usop Sani Wahap.

The Premier and his entourage then proceeded to the home of Deputy Health Minister, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, located in Luak, followed by a visit to the residence of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, at Jalan Acorus, off Jalan Airport Miri.

Meanwhile, the Head of State and his entourage also visited the homes of Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat and Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni as part of the Raya goodwill tour.

In the evening, the Premier graced the Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri event, hosted by five branches of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Miri at the Pullman Waterfront Miri.

The event was also attended by key state leaders including Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Utility (Sarawak Energy Bhd and PETROS) Deputy Minister, Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Utility and Telecommunication Minister, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, and Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki.
