Head of State, state leaders perform Friday prayers on final day of Ramadan

KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, performed the Friday congregational prayers at the Sarawak State Mosque today.

Upon arrival, he was received by President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha; Mufti of Sarawak, Datuk Khalidi Ibrahim; and Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir, along with other officials.

Also in attendance were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar.

The prayers were led by Sarawak State Chief, Ustaz Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, who also delivered a sermon titled ‘Ramadan: Tibanya dinanti, perginya dirindui’.

Following the prayers, Wan Junaidi joined a funeral prayer for the late Katherina Majais, sister of Premier’s special representative in Gedong, Datuk Seri Naroden Majais.

Wan Junaidi later greeted congregants and distributed donation envelopes to children.

Before departing, Wan Junaidi and accompanying dignitaries visited an exhibition booth at the mosque featuring its history, latest information, and a model of the new mosque currently under construction.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to perform Friday prayers with the community, especially on the final Friday of Ramadan this year.
