THE private sector has been urged to actively participate and contribute to the government’s efforts in implementing high-impact initiatives, such as boosting the state’s economy, enhancing infrastructure, logistics services and more.

Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said that internationally, Sarawak is increasingly gaining recognition and attention as a strategic investment destination in the region, particularly in the new economy sectors.

“Sarawak continues to shine with its excellent achievements as a progressive region in Malaysia, marked by political stability, clear and forward-looking economic policies, and prudent fiscal management.

“I fully support the state government’s ongoing efforts to attract high-quality investments by leveraging Sarawak’s competitive advantages and strategic location.

“This includes strengthening the investment ecosystem through the enhancement of basic infrastructure and logistics services in Sarawak,” he said.

He said this in his opening speech when officiating at the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) at DUN complex here today.

Wan Junaidi added that the proposed construction of new ports and airports is highly timely and aligns with the goal of establishing Sarawak as a regional logistics hub.

“Congratulations to the Sarawak Government for taking over the Bintulu Port Authority and the MASwings airline as a Sarawak-owned airline, and for establishing AirBorneo.

“This strategic move will undoubtedly further bolster Sarawak’s efforts to become a regional logistics hub, enhancing the state’s economy in trade, industry, and tourism sectors.

“The people must also be prepared to seize the job and business opportunities that will arise from these programmes and projects,” he said.
