KUALA LUMPUR: Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, wife of Sarawak Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, graced the SMK Taman Melati graduation ceremony and the launch of its Alumni Association at the Tun Hussein Onn Hall, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), on Saturday.

The event honoured students who had completed their secondary education and marked the formal establishment of the SMK Taman Melati Alumni Association, which aims to strengthen engagement and support between the school and its former students.

Upon arrival, Fauziah was welcomed by SMK Taman Melati Principal, Dzaizatul Shikin Madrahim; Parent-Teacher Association Chairman, Shahrizal Aman; and Alumni Association President, Associate Professor Dr Mohd Shahnawi Mohmad Fairuz.

In her address, Fauziah congratulated the graduates on reaching an important milestone and commended the school’s leadership, teachers and parents for their commitment in guiding and nurturing the students.

“A graduation ceremony is not merely a symbol of academic success, but a reflection of perseverance, discipline and resilience in facing the challenges of learning,” she said.

She expressed confidence that the newly launched alumni association would become a meaningful platform for former students to give back to their alma mater and contribute to its continued growth.

According to her, alumni members could play a vital role by sharing their expertise, professional experience and mentorship with future generations.

She added that the success of an educational institution should not be measured solely by examination results, but also by the strong and lasting relationships built among the school, its alumni and the wider community.

Fauziah thanked the organisers for their efforts and expressed her hope that the graduates would continue to uphold the school’s good name with integrity and responsibility.
