KUCHING: The wife of Head of State, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, paid a visit to the One Stop Early Intervention Centre (OSEIC) Sarawak at Metrocity here today.

Her visit highlighted the strong support for the state government’s commitment to strengthening the support ecosystem for children with special needs.

Fauziah arrived at 11:15 am and was received by Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, Deputy Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus, and OSEIC’s General Manager, Datuk Dr Saadiah Abdul Samat.

During the visit, she toured several early intervention facilities, including the Lion Class, Sensory Integration Room, Snoezelen Room and Hydrotherapy Room, with briefings provided by Fatimah.

Established as a referral centre for early intervention, OSEIC plays a key role in helping children with special needs grow holistically and reach their full potential.

As of July 2025, a total of 715 children have undergone early intervention sessions at the centre, involving 643 in Kuching and 72 in Dalat.

In 2022 alone, 297 children successfully completed the programme, with 69 (23.2 per cent) transitioning to mainstream education, 174 (58.6 per cent) to the Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI), and 54 (18.2 per cent) to Special Education National Schools (SKPK).

As part of her visit, Fauziah also presented a contribution to OSEIC to further strengthen the centre’s efforts in providing quality early intervention programmes for children with special needs.

Also present were Toh Puan Norhayati Ahmat, Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin, Datin Melinda Bucking Lawan, Datin Shanti Achmad Ramly, Datin Christina Gregory, and other invited guests.
