KUCHING: Transport (Riverine and Marine) Deputy Minister, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, has called on all implementing agencies to address issues affecting project implementation, and ensure that all delayed projects are expedited without further postponement.

Henry, who is also the Tasik Biru assemblyman, said 19 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects in his constituency have been delayed since 2022 due to unresolved land site matters.

“All affected projects must be implemented immediately as they are meant to serve the daily needs of the local community,” he said.

Henry said this after chairing the RTP Project Progress Meeting for the Tasik Biru constituency on Tuesday.

He echoed the views of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, expressing disappointment over the sluggish pace of implementation despite funds already being disbursed.

“I urge all implementing agencies to speed up these projects.

“Once approved, they should not be delayed unnecessarily, especially when they are proposed to solve community problems and improve basic infrastructure,” he stressed.

He added that rural development initiatives such as road construction and upgrades, public building facilities, sports infrastructure, and social amenities must be carried out efficiently and without bureaucratic red tape.

“Red tape must not hinder progress. It is vital that agencies work together to avoid unnecessary delays that impact the rakyat,” he added.

Abang Johari had, just a day earlier, voiced his concern over the repeated delays in implementing development projects across the region, despite the timely allocation of funds to responsible parties.
