KUCHING: Miri City is set to become an entertainment hub as iconic Indonesian singer, Hetty Koes Endang, will be performing in a special ‘Hetty Koes Endang & Friends Concert’ on September 13 at the Miri Indoor Stadium.
The concert promises not only a night full of nostalgia and first-class entertainment but also carries a charitable mission with the support of Sarawak’s Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.
Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said that the government always supports events that contribute to the tourism economy of the region.
“When renowned artistes like Hetty Koes Endang come to Sarawak, fans from the state and neighbouring countries will surely attend. Concerts like this are excellent tourism products,” he said.
Abdul Karim was speaking at the press conference announcing the concert at Baitulmakmur Building 2 here on Thursday.
In addition to Hetty, whose singing career spans over five decades, the concert will feature local artistes such as Bob Yusof, Rickie Andrewson, Rosiana Urai, and the twin duo, Aleysha and Ryan Zachary, who won a gold medal in the vocal category at the 27th World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California, United States, last year.
The concert, organised by Borneo SuperAct Events led by Datuk Eddie Abdullah, also supports a social mission, with a portion of the ticket sales to be donated to the Miri Breast Cancer Support Association (PERSOPAM).
Abdul Karim also hopes that the Miri Indoor Stadium, which has a capacity of 3,000 seats, will be filled with fans, and assures a high-quality performance from Hetty, as evidenced by her performance during the New Year’s Eve celebration in 2025.
“The last time Hetty was in Sarawak, despite the heavy rain, she still entertained the audience, and they were willing to stand in the rain. That proves she is a high-quality entertainer,” he said.
In addition to this concert, Abdul Karim also invites the people of Sarawak to join in various other entertainment events this month, including the Borderland Music Festival and Jom Heboh.
