IT is the time of the year again when EPF contributors are eagerly awaiting this year’s dividend announcement, hoping for returns that will strengthen their retirement savings and reflect steady fund performance.

Undoubtedly, the rate will influence financial planning decisions for millions of members nationwide.

To find out the excitement level, Sarawak Tribune spoke to members of the public and gather their views on this year’s EPF dividend and how it may influence their financial decisions.

Nur Izza Nisrina Zaidi, 23, Part-time worker

I hope this year’s dividend will be strong, similar to previous years. I do not plan to use the Flexible Account, as I prefer to keep it as an emergency fund for the future. Although withdrawals are now easier, I would rather let my savings continue to grow than use them for random personal expenses.

Aizat Rahman, 29, Executive

My expectation for this year’s dividend rate is moderate, but I hope it will be substantial as my savings are still at an early stage. For now, I do not plan to make any withdrawals from the Flexible Account unless there is a truly urgent need. I prefer to let my savings multiply so as to prepare for my future financial needs.

Caroline Inya, 47, Recruiter

If the rate is good, I might consider withdrawing. If your Akaun Fleksibel has a big balance and you have a pressing need, go for it, that’s what it’s there for! Everyone has the right to withdraw their savings for cases such as unforeseen emergencies, important payments, or managing cash flow.

Awang Saifeluddin, 46, Director

I believe EPF will continue to perform well this year, based on its consistent track record and prudent investment strategy. Over the past few years, EPF has shown strong performance across both domestic and global portfolios, which gives confidence in its ability to deliver stable and competitive dividends. For this year, I am optimistic that the dividend will remain solid. As such, I plan to leave my savings in the Flexible Account to continue growing rather than making a withdrawal. In the long term, compounding returns will provide better value and support my future financial security.
