High-level talks strengthen federal-state coordination

KUCHING: The efforts to improve collaboration between the Federal government and states along with enhancing public welfare were the focus of a high-level meeting held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (Feb 10).

According to TVS, the Meeting of First Ministers and Chief Ministers (Mesyuarat Menteri Besar dan Ketua Menteri) was held at the Parliament Building and chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar said that the meeting discussed, among other things, efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Federal government and state governments, particularly in coordinating policies and implementing development initiatives in a structured and effective manner.

In a media statement, Anwar also said the discussions also touched on the welfare and well-being of the people, ensuring that every decision could translate into tangible benefits directly felt by the public.

The meeting, which began at 2.30 pm, was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The 148th meeting was also attended by members of the Cabinet, including Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek, Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

In addition to Abang Johari and Hajiji, the meeting was attended by the Menteris Besar of Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, and the Chief Minister of Penang.
