KUCHING: The Sarawak Cricket Association (SCA) has highlighted the positive impact of its high-performance training programme, saying it is helping players develop their skills and understanding of the game in an engaging environment.

The programme, held at the Borneo Cricket Ground, featured international batting coach Richard Clifton and strength and conditioning coach Jason Cox, who worked closely with around 20 boys and girls.

SCA vice president Victor Graman said the initiative was well received, with players responding positively to structured sessions led by experienced international coaches.

He said the programme not only improved technical abilities but also enhanced players’ understanding of the game through specialised batting, bowling and conditioning sessions.

“The programme for the past week has been really good for the players.

“It is very informative, not just practically, but also in terms of better understanding the game, especially how to apply techniques and make decisions in match situations,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today (Apr 20).

The initiative, jointly organised by the SCA with the Sarawak Sports Corporation, Rising Roos Australia and MAC Sports, ran from April 15 to 20.

Victor added that the long-term aim is to help players mature both technically and mentally through exposure to high-performance coaching.

“I also hope the positive experience will spread through word of mouth among young players, encouraging more participation.

“This will help them grow more maturely in their game and ultimately build a stronger and more sustainable cricket culture in Sarawak,” he said.
