KUCHING: Pursuing higher education at institutions of higher learning (IPT) has become a necessity among today’s younger generation, in line with the aspirations of the state government.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, said the effort aims to produce more skilled manpower in the state.
“We need a workforce equipped with extensive knowledge. Therefore, our younger generation must be given attention so that they can meet future employment opportunities.
“Thus, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has announced various initiatives for Sarawakian children who further their studies at higher levels to support their needs at university,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Higher Learning Institution (IPT) Student Incentive Presentation Ceremony for the N.4 Pantai Damai constituency at the Pantai Damai Service Centre here today.
In line with that, he assured that the government will continue ensuring local youths are given opportunities to further their studies to higher levels.
“Through this incentive programme for students pursuing their studies at IPT, we hope it will serve as motivation for them to continue striving for success.
“Additionally, this is also a way to recognise their achievement in securing admission into higher education programmes,” he said.
Meanwhile, the fourth phase of the incentive presentation saw 51 recipients comprising students pursuing studies at various academic levels.
