KUCHING: The Sarawak Pui Clan Association marked a significant milestone with its 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM), focusing on education and community development.
The event, held at Hon Ang Restaurant today, was officiated by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.
During the event, Yap emphasised that academic excellence is crucial for a prosperous society.
He highlighted that a highly educated population is a key pillar of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
It attracts foreign investment, creates job opportunities, enhances income levels, and serves as a gateway to better employment, contributing to Sarawak’s overall economic growth.
He commended the Sarawak Pui Clan Association for its continued contributions to charitable causes.
The association also plays its role in preserving clan culture, supporting Chinese education, nurturing local talent, and strengthening Sarawak’s nation-building efforts.
Yap also addressed recent statements by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) on Sarawak’s fight for the return of its rights.
He reaffirmed the state government’s firm stance under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, stressing that Sarawak’s immigration autonomy, legal enforcement, territorial boundaries and sovereignty over its natural resources remain non-negotiable.
Yap assured that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) remains committed to defending Sarawak’s rights, expressing confidence that both current and future GPS leaders will continue to safeguard the state’s interests.
He encouraged members of the association to support the GPS leadership in its vision of making Sarawak the most prosperous state in Malaysia by achieving high-income status, fostering inclusivity, and becoming the most environmentally sustainable state by 2030.
To support the association’s activities, Yap presented a grant of RM3,000 during the event.
