Highway collision with army truck leaves man injured, trapped in car

BETONG: A local man was injured in a two-vehicle collision at a P-turn section along the Pan Borneo Highway yesterday (Oct 7).

The accident happened at around 5.50 pm when a Perodua Alza driven by the victim, collided with a military truck.

The impact left the victim trapped inside the vehicle as he was unable to move due to his injuries.

Firefighters from Betong station were promptly dispatched to the scene following a distress call.

Upon arrival, the team confirmed that the victim was trapped but not pinned inside the car.

Firefighters then carried out extrication work and successfully removed the injured driver before handing him over to paramedics for initial treatment.

He was later taken to the hospital for further medical attention. The extent of his injuries has yet to be determined.

Before ending the operation, the team also conducted road flushing to clear debris and ensure the safety of other road users.
