KUCHING: Hipmau FC emerged victorious in the Cahya Mata Football Cup Finals 2025, edging past Taman Ria 1-0 in a rain-soaked final to claim the championship title and RM50,000 prize.

The decisive goal came from none other than Hipmau FC’s in-form striker Paul Sambang, who calmly slotted home the winner to seal a hard-fought victory at Sarawak Stadium today.

The team in blue entered the final with momentum on their side, having cruised through the semi-finals with a dominant 3-0 win over their opponents.

That match saw Donny Stanley Sating opening the scoring, followed by a clinical brace from Sambang – a performance that underlined his importance to the squad.

In the third-place playoff, Kampung Rampangi 1 edged Mambong FC 2-1 in another closely contested match, securing the bronze spot in the competition.

Despite gloomy skies and heavy downpours, all four teams delivered a high-calibre display of football, showcasing their technical ability, tactical discipline, and unshakeable team spirit, much to the delight of fans in attendance.

The Cahya Mata Football Cup Finals 2025 brought together 12 of the top community-based teams from across Sarawak, selected through earlier Community Cup qualifiers.

The tournament kicked off with group-stage matches held at Fields C and D in Petra Jaya yesterday (Saturday), before moving to Sarawak Stadium for the final stage.
