KUCHING: The Raising of the Ibu Pertiwi Flag Ceremony for the April edition will be held this Sunday at Dataran Ibu Pertiwi here and will be officiated by Utility and Telecommunication Minister, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.

The Ibu Pertiwi Flag Raising Ceremony is a monthly event organised by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), aimed at continuously celebrating the sovereignty and unity of Sarawak.

“As usual, we will witness the Ibu Pertiwi flag, measuring 25 metres in length and 12.4 metres in width, being raised with full decorum on Kuching’s iconic 99-metre-high flagpole – one of the city’s main landmarks,” according to DBKU in a press release on Friday.

Since July 2024, the Ibu Pertiwi Flag Raising Ceremony has remained a meaningful initiative by DBKU to instil patriotism and a strong sense of belonging among the people of Sarawak.

“At the same time, it serves as an important platform to foster pride and promote the values of unity and nation-building,” it said.

The public is invited to attend and witness the Ibu Pertiwi Flag Raising Ceremony and take part in this initiative and show their unwavering support for Sarawak and Malaysia.

The red, black, and yellow colours representing the Ibu Pertiwi flag embody the identity, strength and glory of Sarawak.
