KUCHING: A 12-year-old soloist from Kuching is set to make history after earning the opportunity to perform at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall in New York, United States, following a series of international competition wins.
Taylor Louise, who recently clinched a top prize at the prestigious New York International Music Competition, will take to the stage at Carnegie Hall in July this year, making her the youngest Sarawakian to perform at the iconic venue.
She will represent Malaysia on the international platform.
Carnegie Hall is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world and has hosted generations of legendary musicians since opening in 1891.
Taylor’s latest achievement comes on the heels of another major milestone in December last year when she performed in Paris, France, and received the Exceptional Young Talent Award in recognition of her outstanding performance.
She is known for her versatility as a soloist, performing across a wide range of genres including classical, pop, jazz and musical theatre.
Despite her young age, she has gained attention for her technical proficiency and expressive performances.
Commenting on her achievements, Taylor expressed gratitude to those who have supported her musical journey.
“I’m deeply thankful to my parents for their love and encouragement, to my coach and teachers for their guidance, and to everyone who inspires me to keep pursuing my passion for music,” she said.
She also expressed hope for financial assistance from the government as well as private sponsorships to support her upcoming debut in New York.
As she prepares for her Carnegie Hall performance, Taylor continues to focus on honing her craft and sharing her passion for music.
Her accomplishments underscore her potential as one of Sarawak’s rising young talents and serve as an inspiration to aspiring musicians in the state.

Taylor performs at Paris’ Studio Opéra Bastille.
