KUCHING: ALUMASTER, under the trusted Classic Emas brand, has officially become the first aluminium solutions provider in Sarawak to receive both SIRIM and Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) certifications (MS832:2022 & MS1017:2022), setting a new benchmark for the state’s building and construction industry.

The announcement was made by the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA), thereby position ALUMASTER as a pioneer in certified aluminium sliding door and casement window systems products tested to withstand 100kg weight and strong wind loads, ensuring safety, performance, and sustainability for both residential and commercial projects.

When met by reporters after the launching of SHEDA Expo 2025 held at Borneo Convention Center Kuching (BCCK) today (Aug 22), managing director William Koh said the certification standard was gazetted in 2023 and it took them about one and a half years to be certified because it was a new standard.

“Previously, facades, aluminium windows, and doors were not regulated. CIDB, however, wanted to raise the construction quality in Malaysia, so they included this product category under regulation.

“We were quick to get on board, as we also want to contribute to improving facade systems in Malaysia,” he said.

He added that the certification covers three key areas, namely product specification, traceability and quality management.

“For product specification architects are designing taller and larger buildings. For example, our doors now can reach about three metres in height, which is very different from what was common in the past. Our systems must evolve to meet these design requirements.

“In terms of traceability, all the raw materials we use are certified, which is one of the requirements of the certification and for quality management, CIDB and SIRIM conduct audits in our factory to verify our machines, process management, and quality systems. Only after passing these checks did we receive certification from CIDB and SIRIM,” he added.

With taller building, Koh stated that wind load becomes a major factor, and meeting specification means ensuring that its system can withstand the required wind load.

“For instance, for 10-storey building, the facade system must meet certain wind load requirement before it can be approved for use.

“In urban areas, traffic noise is a growing problem. Many developers have asked how to reduce noise in their projects. With double-glazing technology, we can significantly reduce noise levels. For example, if the noise level outside is about 70 decibels, closing the window can reduce it to around 30 decibels, effectively cutting the noise by more than half,” he added.

On another note, with aluminium being one of the most sustainable materials, Koh said if someone no longer need cabinet made from aluminium, it doesn’t have to be thrown into a landfill.

“It can be recycled and re-smelted, achieving over 90 per cent efficiency in the recycling process. Unlike wood-based products, which are harder to reuse and often end up in landfills, aluminium can be repurposed effectively,” he said.

For the record, ALUMASTER, a brand under Classic Emas, is Sarawak’s leading provider of premium aluminium solutions. From certified window systems (ALUMASTER PCW 1000 Series) and sliding doors (ALUMASTER PSD 1000 Series) to kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, shoe racks, and toilet cabinets, ALUMASTER delivers nearly 100 per cent of aluminium household products.

As the first in Sarawak with SIRIM & CIDB certifications, ALUMASTER offers tested strength, trusted safety, and sustainable solutions for modern living.
