KUCHING: The Hong Kong Scout Association has donated HKD42,050 to the Sarawak Scout Headquarters Rebuilding Fund which received heartfelt appreciation from Sarawak’s scouting community.
The donation supports efforts to restore facilities crucial to the growth and development of scouting activities in the region.
The funds will significantly aid the rebuilding and upgrading of key infrastructure, furthering the mission to nurture leadership, resilience, and environmental awareness among the state’s youth.
The donation was formally presented during a dinner event here, where Sarawak Scout Exco chairman Peter Chai Mui Seng conveyed gratitude on behalf of local scouts for the generosity shown by their Hong Kong counterparts.
“I am so happy and thankful that the Hong Kong scouts have been so generous.
“This contribution means a lot to us and reflects the strong spirit of unity and brotherhood in scouting across borders,” he said during his address at the dinner on Saturday night.
He added that the fundraising initiative was led by Lau Kwan Hung, a dedicated member of the Hong Kong scouting community.
Demonstrating personal commitment, Lau travelled to Sarawak to present the donation in person, accompanied by his wife Yu Kwai Chun and fellow scout leader Yau Chung Yan.
For the record, the delegation also participated in the Sarawak Scout Eco-Run 4.0 held today (June 29), highlighting their continued support and engagement with local scouting activities.
