Sometimes, all we need is a phone that’s easy to use, looks good, and just works without the fuss. The Honor 400 Pro delivers exactly that — with thoughtful features, a sleek design, and a touch of AI magic that makes everyday moments a little more special.
Capturing life’s moments just got easier

I’ve used a range of phones over the years, and several of them have been from the Honor brand. It’s always been my go-to — sleek, reliable, and practical. I’m a simple person, and I use my phone simply: to communicate, to shop, and as a camera. For everyday needs, I don’t want to overthink something as basic as a phone. It should just work.
That’s why, when I got my hands on the Honor 400 Pro — a solid upgrade from the Honor 200 Pro, which I still love for its AI Circadian Night Display and eye-friendly dimming — I knew I was in for a treat. The 400 Pro is just as dependable, featuring 3,840 Hz risk-free PWM dimming and an impressive 5,000 nits HDR peak brightness, making for comfortable and vibrant viewing all day long.
Design-wise, the Honor 400 Pro keeps things elegant. It’s sleek, slim, and fits nicely in the hand — perfect for those days when doomscrolling becomes a full-time job (we’ve all been there). But beyond comfort and aesthetics, what’s really exciting is how the phone keeps pace with an increasingly digital world. It’s now equipped with AI-powered tools for easy photo and video content creation, making it even more useful — whether you’re snapping quick pics or working on creative projects.

Exploring the AI-powered tools
As mentioned earlier, I’m a simple person, and a simple person craves simplified tools. And that’s exactly what the Honor 400 Pro offers. Personally, I’ve often found myself giving up on complicated editing apps and resorting to just posting the original photo — that’s me.
But with the arrival of the 400 Pro and its next-gen AI imaging tools, I can help myself with just a few taps on the screen. It’s truly convenient and user-friendly.
Let’s start with the AI Super Zoom, which goes up to 50x. The moon has never looked sharper on any phone I’ve used before. The craters appear crisp, thanks to the AI enhancement that boosts image quality.
In addition to that, the portrait mode — already impressive with its Harcourt Portrait feature — now comes paired with AI Enhanced Portrait, producing even higher-quality, professional-looking shots. Whether candid or posed, the detail and depth really stand out. There are also newly added filters, expanding on the three core Harcourt Portrait modes.
Editing photos has also become incredibly convenient with the upgraded AI tools. When taking pictures in crowded places, the AI Eraser proves invaluable — it effortlessly removes passers-by, letting the main subject stand out clearly. It makes photography more enjoyable because I get to capture the moment as I remember it, focusing on the best parts, not the crowd that happened to be in the frame.
Right next to the AI Eraser is the AI Cutout feature, which enables me to isolate a person from one photo and place them into another — perfect for group shots. As they say, the more the merrier, and no one should be left out if they’re part of the group. Previously, I needed specialised software or third-party apps to do this, but now, it’s available directly within the Honor’s AI editing tools.
Reliving old memories is also easier with the 400 Pro’s AI Upscale mode, which enhances old, low-resolution photos to make them clearer and more detailed. Even the blurriest snapshots from years ago can be revived — sharper, brighter, and closer to how they were meant to be remembered.
Lastly, AI Outpainting allows photos to expand beyond their original frame. The AI algorithm intelligently fills in and adds elements to the landscape or background. I find this feature fascinating, as I can extend elements of a photo I may have overlooked while taking it. I can also reframe a photo from a cropped portrait to a landscape ratio.

Other notable features
While I may not currently need the AI Image-to-Video function, I recognise its sentimental value — especially for those who’ve lost loved ones. I tested the feature using a still photo of my daughters having lunch together, and it brought a smile to my face to see how the AI imagined them chatting and enjoying the meal.
Now imagine what that could mean to someone grieving the loss of someone dear — a brief moment of seeing them again, laughing or talking, even if only as a digital reconstruction. It’s not quite real, but it can strike a chord deep in the heart.
Before I wrap up this AI-preciation article, I’d like to note that the 400 Pro features a 200 MP Super Sensing main camera, a 50 MP AI Telephoto camera, and a 12 MP Ultra-Wide & Macro camera, all supported by dual OIS + EIS stabilisation.
Highlighting the camera features is especially important to me as a journalist, because photos matter. Accompanying images speak volumes, and with great photo quality and enhanced AI tools, life just gets easier.
Launched in May 2025, the Honor 400 Pro comes in a 12 GB + 512 GB variant, priced at RM2,699. It’s available in Lunar Grey, Tidal Blue, and Midnight Black.
Overall, I would say that the Honor 400 Pro is a solid mid-range phone — packed with excellent specifications and refreshingly user-friendly. What matters most is that everything is clear, simple, and easy to use for someone like me, who just wants a phone that works without the fuss, gets the job done, and still has a bit of flair for capturing life’s little moments.
