KUCHING: Hope FC captain Jonathan Embas Patrick praised his team’s resilience following a commanding 4-0 victory over Liga Bandarayain a Liga Bandaraya match yesterday (Dec 8).
Hope FC started the game on a rough patch but eventually gained momentum, securing the win with goals from Denilson Dylan Demendra, Aril Rozni, and Ericson Teo.
“It was a good match, a very tough match against a solid and fit team.
“But we managed to pull through. It was a rough start, but we gained the momentum we needed later in the first half to continue and win the game,” Jonathan said to Sarawak Tribune after the match at Field C, Petra Jaya.
During the game, the 29-year-old captain was seen rallying his teammates with vocal encouragement on the pitch.
When asked about his motivation for being so vocal, he explained that it was his responsibility as captain to push his teammates.
“I guess it’s the duty of the captain. Everyone was not up to par, not meeting the standard we have as a football club and a team.
“So I just had to wake everyone up. Thankfully, it worked toward the end,” he said.
The captain’s words appeared to have the desired effect, as the team pulled together to deliver a convincing win.
Hope FC’s dominant performance will undoubtedly boost their confidence as they continue their campaign in Liga Bandaraya.
