KUCHING: Hope FC may be climbing into title contention, but for player-manager Bryan Cheong, the focus remains on building a culture of hard work, family, and focusing on one match at a time.

“With the boys in my squad, I think we can be considered one of the contenders for the title. But then again, we’ll take it game by game each week, as this is football and anything could happen,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted recently.

Hope FC are set to face GTD FC on Saturday (May 24) in a Liga Bandaraya matchup.

“I think what we drill into the players in our training sessions is the way we would like to play, as well as setting the club culture of hard work and togetherness in achieving the goals we all share,” he added.

Cheong pointed out that his squad are always looking to improve and not becoming complacent with where they are right now.

“For us, it’s about building a culture of brotherhood and family.

“Everyone has an equal say — from the starting eleven to the players on the bench and the reserves.

“We’ll continue to build on these family values and always put the team and the badge first,” he said.

Hope FC are sitting pretty in fifth place with nine points and are still very much in the title race mix.
