PADAWAN: Hope Place Kuching has extended assistance to a physically disabled man in Kampung Sariq, Mambong, after his family was found to be in urgent need of support.

Besen Jaub, 59, a retired security guard, recently had his right leg amputated due to complications from severe diabetes.

Besen, who was hospitalised for two weeks in October, also suffers from hepatitis B, cardiac issues, severe gastric problems and anaemia, resulting in high and ongoing medical expenses.

The family’s financial strain is further compounded by the needs of two school-going children.

His wife, Jaka, 55, is unemployed and manages a small home garden to supplement the family’s food supply.

She too struggles with health problems, including hepatitis B and asthma.

Their eldest child, Axel, 18, is currently pursuing studies in electrical and electronics and takes part-time work at a coffeeshop to ease the family’s burden.

Their younger child, aged 15, is still in secondary school.

Besen is in the process of applying for a prosthetic leg through SOCSO, while Hope Place is currently assisting the family with special milk supplements and basic food aid.

Hope Place said it will continue to monitor the family’s situation and provide much needed support.
