KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching has stepped forward to assist Emmanuel Moses Edwin Effendy, a six-year-old boy diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and intellectual disability.
Referred by the Batu Kawa Health Clinic, Emmanuel and his family — who reside in Kampung Sibuluh — are now receiving essential support from the non-governmental organisation.
Emmanuel, who resides in Kampung Sibuluh with his family, has been living with the condition since birth. Due to his illness, he is unable to stand, walk, or speak.
His grandmother shared that Emmanuel often has tantrums, during which he screams or makes loud, unintelligible sounds. Despite his challenges, Emmanuel finds comfort in sucking his thumb and observing the people around him.
Emmanuel stays with his mother, Maliha, 38, his two older sisters, and his grandparents. His mother works as a part-time promoter at a shopping mall, while his grandfather, 64, still takes on jobs as a grass cutter to support the family.
His sisters, aged 10 and 13, are currently attending school. The family relies on a RM500 monthly social welfare aid to make ends meet.
In response, Hope Place has begun providing children’s diapers and milk powder for Emmanuel, thanks to the generous support of their donors.
For those who wish to contribute, Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) can be reached at 082-505987 or 013-5672775. Donations are welcomed, with receipts provided upon request.
