KUCHING: Hope Place has extended its support to a family in Kampung Segubang, Bau, who are facing significant challenges.
The Sarawak General Hospital approached the charitable organisation seeking urgent assistance for the family.
Presley Elvis, the 38-year-old sole breadwinner for his family of eight, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a motorbike accident last December.
As a result, Presley is now bedridden, has limited mobility, and cannot speak. He requires tube feeding for sustenance.
Presley, who worked as a welder for 15 years, expressed gratitude for receiving compensation from the Social Security Organisation (Socso).
His wife, Prescilla, has taken on the responsibility of caring for their children, aged between two and 17, while also attending to Presley’s needs.
Additionally, Prescilla’s mother, who lives with them, has dementia and requires constant attention.
Due to Presley’s condition, the family had to rent a hospital bed from a pharmacy at a monthly cost of RM250.
Alongside this expense, the family struggles with the financial burden of tube feeding and specialised milk powder supplements.
Hope Place has stepped in to provide regular supplies of costly milk supplements and adult diapers for Presley.
While Presley receives a monthly allowance of RM850 from the Social Welfare Department and assistance from Socso, the combined financial commitments have left the family in a difficult situation.
Hope Place welcomes any contributions to support their mission of providing aid to those in need.
Donations can be made directly to their bank account at MBB: 511289001160 or through their Facebook page, where their Sarawak Pay/SS Pay Global QR code is available.
Hope Place operates from Mondays to Fridays, 8am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 8am to 12pm.
