KUCHING: Lim Ah Heng, 65, is suffering after a stroke and cannot walk since 20 years ago.

Beside that, he is also facing kidney failure and needs more than RM300 monthly as expenseds for dialysis. He also suffers from hypertension. Currently he is receiving a monthly welfare assistance of RM300 from the Welfare Department (JKM).

His younger brother Lim Ah Seng,61, who suffers from heart problem is also staying with him.

With only RM300 welfare aid from the department is certainly not enough for the brothers, especially the elder Lim needs pampers and both of them need special milk powder Ensure.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan and staff handed over rice, cookingoil, salt, sugar, milo, Oat,  biscuit, noodle, pampers and Ensure milk to Ah Heng’s wife Tan Lee Pheng.

Hope Place is an NGO that visits the poor and less fortunate families to contribute some essential food items like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits, and noodles. Plenty of these families or individuals barely earn enough to get through the month, hence many are grateful with the assistance of these basic necessities delivered to them. For the families with children with special needs, or with elderly or disable people, they provide milk powder, Oat and diapers as well.

Hope Place carries out their aid deliveries once every two months because of the many families on their recipients list. Currently it supports more than 170 families.
