KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching has officially launched its third Kedai Bajet (Budget Shop) outlet this week at Pines Square in Batu Kawa, further expanding its mission to provide affordable and sustainable shopping options for the community.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Datuk Tan Gek Kee, founder and managing director of Lee Onn Group, together with Datuk Jonathan Chai Voon Tok, chairman of the Association of the Boards of Management of Aided Chinese Primary Schools in Kuching, Samarahan and Serian divisions.
They were joined by Hope Place founder, Kelvin Wan, and vice president, Dr Francis Chia.
The new outlet, housed in a newly completed premises built by Lee Onn Construction Co., was generously allocated to Hope Place under Lee Onn Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, reflecting the company’s strong commitment to supporting the community.
In his speech, Dr Francis highlighted Kedai Bajet’s sustainable concept, which focuses on collecting and reselling quality preloved items to reduce waste while offering affordable options for families in need.
Since its establishment in 2018, Kedai Bajet has served as both a hub for second-hand goods and a vital source of funding for Hope Place’s charitable work, while also providing preloved clothing to fire and flood victims across Kuching and rural communities throughout Sarawak.
The shop offers a wide range of items, from men’s and women’s clothing to sports shoes and wedding gowns, with shoppers occasionally discovering branded pieces or vintage treasures among the racks.
The new Pines Square branch is located on the Ground Floor, Plot 41, Lot 6728, Jalan Batu Kawa, just a few blocks from ZUS Coffee and Premier Food Republic.
