KUCHING: Hope FC earned a 2–0 win over Kiur FC to stay third in the Liga Bandaraya 2025.

However, manager Bryan Cheong says the team must improve composure and decision-making through internal reviews and training.

The Hopers took the lead early in the second half when a corner kick deflected off a Kiur defender and into the net.

Moments later, Patrick Dinnesh doubled the advantage from the penalty spot to seal a valuable three points.

While satisfied with the result, Cheong described the match as a “scrappy win”, noting that his side struggled to find rhythm in attack.

“In terms of attack, we just couldn’t really get anything clicking, but we got the win at the end and the three points.”

“Huge shoutout to the defence for dominating and keeping us in the game,” Cheong told Sarawak Tribune recently.

Reflecting on the team’s messy first-half performance, Cheong said his players were too eager to score and lost composure in the final third.

“We were just too rushed to get the goal and lacked composure in the final third. We’ll have an internal discussion and work on it during our training sessions,” he added.

Despite the uneven performance, Hope FC’s victory keeps them within reach of the top two.

They remain in third place with 43 points, trailing Amanda United (46) and league leaders Rayumie FC (52), who have played one game more.
