House destroyed in Tudan Desaras blaze

MIRI: A small house in Kampung Tudan Desaras 5B was reduced to ashes on Sunday morning after a fire tore through the structure while the occupants were away.

 No injuries were reported.

The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the emergency call at 10:05 am and arrived on scene nine minutes later.

By then, the wooden house, with the size estimated at about 10 by 15 feet, was already fully ablaze.

A team from the Lutong Fire Station, led by Operational Commander PBK I Iskandar  Aus and supported by Acting Station Chief PBK I Mohammad Faizul Ali, moved quickly to contain the fire.

Firefighters deployed a 200-foot hose line using water from the fire engine’s tank, along with a Salur Bantu Mula (SBM) line, to knock down the flames.

The fire was brought under control within minutes, and crews continued overhaul work to prevent any possible reignition.

Five personnel and one Fire Rescue Tender were involved in the operation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
