MUKAH: A housewife was arrested with a straw tube containing suspected methamphetamine during a raid along Jalan Mukah-Balingian on Monday (Aug 24).
The 49-year-old was taken into custody at around 1pm after the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) acted on information regarding suspected drug-related activities.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said during a search in front of an unnumbered house, the team found a straw tube containing crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
“The suspected drug had an estimated gross weight of 0.45g.
“Both the woman and the seized item were taken to the district police headquarters (IPD) for further investigation.

“However, a urine screening found the suspect negative for drugs.”
The suspect is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession of drugs without lawful authority, which carries a fine of up to RM100,000, imprisonment for up to five years, or both, upon conviction.
The housewife has been remanded until Aug 28 to facilitate investigations.
