SARIKEI: The commitment to improve educational support for students here continues under Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii.

On Thursday (May 8), a total of 914 school bags for the 2025 school year were distributed to primary and secondary school students across 11 schools in the constituency.

This initiative builds upon earlier assistance by Huang, who had previously provided two sets of school uniforms and a pair of shoes to underprivileged students.

The latest aid benefited students from the following schools: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Haji Matahir, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Kwang Chien, SJK Su Ming, SJK Su Tak, SK Tanah Putih, SK Sungai Petai, SJK Hua Nam, SJK Hua Kee, SJK Su Dok, SK Penghulu Andin, and SJK Sing Ming.

Huang, who is Sarikei Member of Parliament and Repok state assemblyman, acknowledged the financial strain many families face at the start of each academic year.

“I sincerely hope this contribution will ease the burden on parents and motivate students to remain focused in their studies,” he said in a statement.

He stressed that students are the nation’s most valuable asset and must be nurtured with consistent support and guidance to ensure future success.

The distribution exercise was carried out by a team from Huang’s Service Centre led by Kapitan Ling Dien Yong, in collaboration with councilor Wong Kie Yong, Penghulu Huang Tiong Kang, Kapitan Ling Sien Chuong, and village chief Pitre Ambit.
