MUKAH: About 1,000 people in Mukah attended the Yasin recital and Tahlil ceremony for the late former Head Of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, at the Setia Raja mosque here, yesterday (May 30).
The ceremony was also attended by the Member of Parliament for Mukah, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib who is also the youngest daughter of the late Tun Taib,
The event began with the congregational Maghrib prayer, followed by the collective recital of Yasin and Tahlil.
Subsequently, the ceremony continued with the congregational Isyak prayer and a dinner for the attendees.
The event was specially held for the late Tun Taib in conjunction with the 100th day since his passing, and as a remembrance for the late Puan Sri Laila Taib.
In connection with this, Hanifah, through a post on her Facebook page, hoped that the public would continue to pray for her to remain strong in her service to the community.
Meanwhile, she expressed her gratitude to all parties who were involved directly or indirectly in organising and ensuring the smooth running of the event.
“With your prayers, may Allah SWT bless my father and mother and those who have left us, placing them among the righteous and faithful.
“Our family also prays that all of you are always under the protection of Allah SWT, granted blessings, long life, prosperity, and ease in all your daily affairs,” she said.
Also present at the event were the political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Fridah Osman, and the acting district officer of Mukah, Nolin Gendang.
