SIBU: The success of the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) does not only depend on government policies and planning, reminded Bukit Assek assemblyman, Joseph Chieng.

He said it also requires the active involvement of the younger generation who are able to lead with values and integrity.

Chieng made these remarks while representing the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, at the closing of the Youth Leadership Camp here Sunday (May 3).

It was organised by EMART Holdings Sdn Bhd (EMART) in collaboration with SMK Methodist Sibu.

“No strategy, no matter how well planned, will be successful without capable people who adhere to values. Therefore, human capital development is the main foundation in making this vision a success,” said Chieng.

He explained that PCDS 2030 focuses on three main thrusts, namely economic prosperity, social inclusion and environmental sustainability, all of which require strong support from the people, especially the youth.

Meanwhile, he praised the organising of the Youth Leadership Camp which is seen as an effective platform in shaping character and fostering noble values among participants.

“Throughout this programme, participants were not only exposed to leadership skills, but also appreciated important values such as responsibility, cooperation and perseverance which are very relevant in life and in line with the aspirations of PCDS 2030,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also expressed his appreciation to EMART which has consistently implemented Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives since 2013 in empowering youth development in Sarawak.

“This effort proves that human development is as important as economic development,” he added.

EMART founder cum Group Managing Director, Ngu Ting Sii and SMK Methodist Principal, Philip Ling were among those present.
