KUCHING: A joint enforcement operation along Mile 15, Jalan Kuching-Serian last night (May 27), resulted in the issuance of 200 non-compliance notices for various traffic offenses and the confiscation of a vehicle.

The operation, codenamed ‘Ops Bersepadu’, was carried out by the Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) together with the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department and National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).

Sarawak RTD director Norizan Jili led the operation, which involved 57 officers and personnel, at two locations along Mile 15 – one heading towards Serian, and the other towards Kuching.

A total of 200 non-compliance notices were issued for various traffic offenses after the team inspected a total of 816 vehicles during the operation.

In addition, a car was confiscated for further action after it was being driven with an expired road tax and without valid insurance.

Meanwhile, urine tests conducted by AADK on 10 individuals found two testing positive for methamphetamine.

Such integrated operation will continue from time to time as part of efforts to ensure road users comply with traffic laws and to tackle drug abuse among motorists.
