KUCHING: i-CATS University College recently played host to pupils and students from three schools in Sarikei and Kanowit in a bid to spark early interest in higher learning.
On Sept 18, the university welcomed two groups from Sarikei comprising 28 Years 4 to 6 pupils with 12 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Udin and 38 Year 6 pupils with 12 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Abang Haji Matahir.
Headmasters Leonard Lee Ambrose Laurance (SK Udin) and Rugayah Nawawi (SK Abang Haji Matahir) said i-CATS was chosen to motivate pupils and give them an early glimpse of campus life and future education pathways.
The day before, 25 hostel prefects from Forms 5 and 6 of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kanowit, accompanied by 11 teachers led by Balintian Norbet Jubit, also toured the university to explore its programmes and learning environment.
All three groups were welcomed by i-CATS management before being guided through various faculties and facilities, where they were able to experience some of the academic resources available.
In a statement, i-CATS said the visits were organised to inspire young learners to aim for academic excellence and to consider higher education as part of their future.
