SHANGHAI: A delegation from the Sarawak government led by Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki visited the Shanghai Electric headquarters in Minhang district, China, today.
The visit was held in conjunction with the 18th International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition taking place here.
The delegation was welcomed by Shanghai Electric Holding chairman Wu Lei, along with senior company officers.
Also part of the Sarawak delegation were permanent secretary to the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) Datuk Jafri Lias, and Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili.
Earlier, Ibrahim and the delegation were given a briefing on Shanghai Electric’s operations.
This was followed by a bilateral meeting lasting about an hour, during which both parties discussed various strategic collaboration opportunities.
Earlier in the day, the Sarawak government through MUT signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shanghai Electric and China Three Gorges International Ltd (CTGI) to jointly conduct studies and explore the development of a floating solar farm with a capacity not exceeding 1,000 megawatts (MW) at the Bakun Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) reservoir.
